What does dance mean to me?

What+does+dance+mean+to+me%3F

My whole life has revolved around dance.  As soon as I was four my mom signed me up for dance classes. After just one year of dancing I was asked to join the competitive group. I danced up until fifth grade at that dance studio. I just didn’t enjoy dancing there anymore. That was until I was in sixth grade when my favorite dance teacher, Lainy Wilson-Curry started her own dance studio. Wilson Dance Company. So then I started dancing again, and I love it. Lainy has always pushed me further because she believes in me. Then in seventh grade I had a new teacher named Lexi Kuecker. Lexi is so talented and gifted. She is on the Grand View dance team. It was so much fun learning from her.

I love competing. It is very stressful though. The time you perform changes all the time. This can be a lot because if you are not ready yet you gotta hurry. Competing is also the most amazing feeling ever. Like when you’re backstage and you feel like you’re going to throw up. Then when you step on that stage and you feel the hot, blinding lights it calms all your nerves. Then you hold your beginning pose till the music starts. Those few seconds you doubt if you know the dance you have been practicing for months. Then after dancing you feel amazing because you did good or you want to cry because you did bad, either way there is something about it that feels amazing.

When I was younger there were 2 people in particular who I looked up to. One named Addison Shannon. I have known Addi since I was born and I  always wanted to be her. She is smart, kind, funny, and a very talented dancer. She always treated me like her little sister. The other person being Avery Houser. I have known Avery since I was five. I’ve always looked up to Avery. She is outgoing, kind, and also a very talented dancer. I wanted to be on the dance team with them someday. It seems my whole life I have just been waiting my turn. Now it is my turn. I have made that little girl’s dreams come true. By a lot of hard work I made the competitive team. You wouldn’t understand how much I cried when I found out I made it. It felt like my dream had become a reality, and it did. But I still have a lot of work left. So if it wasn’t for Lainy, Lexi, my family, Addi, Avery, and many more. I would never be where I am today. Thank you.
