The PCM dance team went to state on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. They placed third for Pom and Prop and second for Hip Hop. There were ten girls in Pom and Hip Hop and there were thirteen girls in Prop. Prop was something new this year. Usually, they do Novelty which is where you act out a character. While Prop is where you have a prop this year the dance team had skirts. The dance team also got brand new uniforms for Pom. Thursday the 30 of Nov. they performed Hip Hop then Prop. On Friday, Dec. 1, they performed Pom. To watch the full performances you can go to the PCM dance team Facebook. These girls have been working very hard. Their practices start at 6 a.m. and the practices usually last until 7:30 a.m. The girls were having three practices a week but due to state they up it to five practices a week and some weekends. Freshman Tori Landwehr gave her opinion on what state was like as a first-timer.

¨I was very scared for my first state. When I got there I was scared, I didn’t know what to expect. Running the dance before was a little bit better because I was practicing the dance. I thought it was going to be good,¨Landwehr said, ¨Getting ready to walk on was very scary. I thought I was going to mess up, but then it was fine. Afterward, I felt very relieved because I finally did the dance and it was good. ¨ Waiting for awards was bringing the nerves for Landwehr.  ¨Waiting to get the awards was very scary because I didn’t know what to expect for placement.¨ Landwehr said, ¨After the awards we had very good results so I think it went very well.¨

Senior Avery Houser talked a little bit about what state was like, as her last state. ¨It was definitely sad but I was trying to make the best of it and I was trying to not think about how I’m a senior and that’s the last time. I was trying to have a lot of fun and hype everybody up.¨ Houser said, ¨Just have the best experience I could and make it the best one. I think after the awards it kind of hit me but it was just super fun and I was just trying to make it the best I could.¨ Houser also talked about nerves. ¨It’s always super fun backstage,¨ Houser said, ¨but then I always get nervous right when we are about to go on and line up. That is when the nerves actually hit.¨ After dancing for Houser brings the feelings. ¨After we get off the floor it’s a lot of happiness,¨ Houser said, ¨and also a feeling of accomplishment because like we practice for so long and it just feels good to know that we put everything into it.¨ Waiting for awards made her nervous. ¨Waiting for the awards was definitely nerve-racking,¨ Houser said, ¨but we knew we did the best we could so we were happy with anything.¨

These girls put in so much hard work to get where they are. Congratulations PCM dance team!
