This season at PCM High School, two wrestlers qualified for the state tournament. Senior Kaliber Fry and Tucker Wheeler earned their spots after a strong performance at the district tournament.
Fry said qualifying for state again is a bittersweet moment. While he is excited to reach his goal, he also knows this will be his final season wrestling for PCM. “ It feels pretty good. I reached my goal, and I’m happy to be able to go again,” Fry said.
At the same time, Fry did express some disappointment because this is his last year competing. Wrestling has been a big part of his life, and making it to state one last time means a lot to him.
Fry said this year’s state tournament feels different from the past. “I’m happy it’s my last year, but I’m also sad,” Fry said. “I’m a senior, it’s my last state tournament, and I’m looking forward to it.”
Even though it is the end of his high school wrestling career, Fry said he is excited for the experience and the chance to compete once more at the state level.
With the pressure of preparing for the tournament, Wheeler was unavailable to comment on how he feels going into the state tournament. Still, qualifying is a major accomplishment and reflects the hard work he has put in throughout the season.
As the state tournament happens, both wrestlers will get to represent PCM and compete against the top athletes. The team and the school are very excited to support them.
