The soccer season has started and with great results. The PCM team started with a win over Sigourney-Keota six to nothing. The team then went and played close rival Pella Christian, and suffered a two-nothing loss. Though the team lost, they are in high hopes for it; last year, the team had a staggering eight-to-one loss. So, having only a two-point game has really shown the team the improvement they have gained from last season. When asked what the game showed on what needed to be improved, Coach Telfer said, “It really shows that we need to work on conditioning.”
The team has really worked in the offseason to get the PCM community to support and notice the team, and it shows. Before, even at home games, there wouldn’t be a lot of fans that would come to see them play; now, though, even on away games, they have grown a miniature student section and regular fans. Not only have they grown the fan base, but they have also grown the team. The team has a varsity and JV team as well. With students from all of the grades, there is talent in every position on the field.
The team has upcoming games against close rivals like Perry, Nevada, and Knoxville. All of the games should be close as the Mustangs continue to form this new team and grow into a contending organization. Be sure to go support them as they make their march to the postseason.
