As the spring sports at PCM High School start their meets and games, so does the thrill for the upcoming season. One of those spring sports is golf, where players and coaches have set goals and made improvements to ready themselves for a competitive season. Sophomore Annie Ford reflects on her own expectations as well as her teams goals this season, stating, “For myself, I would say just to shoot better than I did last year and just be more consistent with my swing, and I think for the team to just break our record from last year on our 18 and 9 holes, and then hopefully make it to second round regionals, if not further.”
Golf continues to grow as a sport for PCM, with students finding both enjoyment and difficulty. Ford believes it is a great option for new players. “It’s an individual and a team sport, which I think makes it more fun, because you affect yourself individually, and you also contribute to a team and have other people supporting and helping you,” Said Ford.
Golf also offers players a chance to have fun and make great memories on the course, as Ford explains, “My favorite part about golf is getting to go to a few new courses and meeting new people at meets and just talking to them.”
Overall, the PCM golf team continues to emphasize what it means to grow, work as a team, and enjoy the season as it moves forward. Make sure to go support the PCM Mustangs tonight at the Pleasantville Golf and Country Club from 4 to 6 p.m. and at all of their upcoming meets throughout the spring season.
