This past week on Dec. 9, PCM hosted their first home meet of the season against Nevada and West Marshall. With this year being the first time in a long time that the team has had a full lineup, they were eager to show everyone what they’ve accomplished already and show their competition what they’re up against.

Senior and 160 varsity wrestler William Vanderpool won both his matches against Nevada and West Marshal with a pin in the third period against Nevada wrestler Payton Mosinski and a pin in the first period against West Marshal.Vanderpool explains how he feels the team performed last night, “I feel like the meet went really well. We had a big win against Nevada for conference and we were tied 21- 21 with West Marshall and then we had a few matches that turned it up for us and sealed the win.” As the ‘Stangs continue their wrestling season the wrestlers are excited for what the rest of the season will bring. “I’m excited to compete in duals since we have a bigger team this year and just feeling a lot better this year with wrestling.” explains Vanderpool.

Senior and 220 varsity wrestler Joel Greiner won his first matchup with a pin scoring the team some valuable points and lost his second after a good fight. Greiner is very pleased with how the meet went, “I think it went pretty well, the team did a really good job of pushing through and not giving up and I’m excited to see how we’ll do as a team throughout the rest of the season.” explains Greiner.

PCM’s wrestling team really turned up the heat as the wins kept coming, Sophomore Kaden Clark secured two wins for the team both being pins against Nevada and West Marshall and Freshman Tucker Wheeler receiving a forfeit from Nevada and pinning his opponent from West Marshall. The Mustangs ended the meet with a win of 66-12 against Nevada and 57-20 against West Marshall. This is the team our wrestling program has been waiting for and with a full roster it is clear that they’re ready to take down the competition. Both JV and Varsity teams will be competing in a tournament in Fort Madison on Dec. 16 and Dec 17.
