Girls split trianguler in Jefferson

Girls split trianguler in Jefferson

by Tyler Foster

Last week, the PCM Mustangs girls’ volleyball team split two games played in Jefferson. PCM beat Saydel 3-1 and lost to Greene County 3-0.
In first game against the Greene County Rams, the Mustangs struggled, losing all three sets. Leading the team in digs was senior Ashley Van Gorp with seven. Freshman Maddie Samson served up a strong game, recording three aces. Samson also finished second in blocks with three, behind sophomore Regan Olson’s five.
The girls managed to turn around a first-match loss to come from behind and win the final three sets, giving PCM a solid 3-1 win against Saydel.
Junior Tatum Nearmyer said, “I think the most exciting thing about this season so far is when our energy is up and were working together becuase everything just seems to work so well. When we played Saydel, our energy levels were higher and we were talking and working together as a team instead of an individual.”
The girls move to 3-13 on the season and look to improve against Nevada at home next Tuesday, Oct. 8, with the varsity game starting at 7 p.m.
