One Run Leads Mustangs To Lose Season Opener

On May 17th, the PCM boys baseball team traveled to their season opener to Newton to take on the Cardinals.

With it being a new season, here are the 2024 PCM senior players; Senior Gabe Hobbs, senior Easton Webb, senior Jack Jungling, senior Jacob Gentry, and senior Nick Farver.

The day that the baseball team had their first game, a handful of their boys were also running in the State Track and Field meet. Senior Gabe Hobbs, senior Jacob Wednt, sophomore Coby DeRaad, and freshman Jaden Houser.

While PCM did record four hits while the Newton Cardinals only recorded two, the Cardinals did come out on top with a 6-1 win causing the PCM baseball team to lose their opening night.

The Mustangs saw three innings of Nick Farver and Trenner Van Dyke working on the mound. Faver threw a total of 81 pitches while Van Dyke threw 40.

A very early triple in the first inning from Caleb Devries led the one run of the night for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs will be back in action to face Pella on Monday 20th at home with varsity starting at 7:30.
