Small numbers don’t stop girls

by Kinsey Phipps

Pella’s Tulip Time is a big event for lots of people in central Iowa. The middle school and high school band students at PCM travel every year to march at this event. Due to this fact, junior Abby Van Haaften and freshman Sabrina Reed were absent for the May 7 girls’ golf meet in Moravia. This left only two golfers: Sophomore Bre Maher and freshman Ellie Steenhoek.
Weather was cooperative for yet another 18-hole meet. The day was a good one for the Mustangs as Maher and Steenhoek carded a 91 and a 125 respectively; Maher took the bronze.
“Once again, the weather cooperated for us to get in another 18-hole meet this week,” Head Coach Val Edwards said. “The Preserve at Rathbun (Mohawk Invite)  is a very difficult course, and the girls played well.”
The next meet will be on Thursday, May 14, in Chariton, starting at 1 p.m.
