Boys barely dodge last place

On Friday, May 1 the PCM boys’ track team traveled to Dallas-Center Grimes for their home track meet. The boys’ ran hard but still finished ninth of ten teams, their worst placing of the year.
The best place for the Mustangs was senior Maverick McAtee, running a 10:42:58 in the two mile. Senior Skyler Koder finished fourth in the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 16:36. Senior Connor Warrick and junior Gunnar Davis tied for sixth place in the shot put with throws of 42-5. Junior Tyler Foster finished fifth in the discus with a heave of 114-09. Also placing well on the night for the Mustangs was the 4×110 meter shuttle hurdle team which consisted of seniors Luke Pendroy, Koder, Ricky Reeve, and junior Austin Sneller. They finished sixth with a time of 1:03:63
Sneller said, “The caliber of the teams there was really good. We had sort of an off night too, it was a third meet that week and we were battling some tired legs. Our times are going to start going up soon I think.”
The boys next meet is today, at Newton High School, at 4:30.
