The PCM High School seniors went on the senior class trip last week. The three-day trip to Chicago, Ill. was a successful endeavor led by high school math teacher Mike Vittetoe. Vittetoe has been in charge of the senior trip for 18 years. There were 36 seniors that went on the trip and five chaperones. The location was voted on earlier in the year by the senior class.

The bus left the middle school at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday morning and headed toward Chicago. The first stop was The Navy Pier where the group shopped, ate lunch, and went sightseeing. Next, the bus headed toward Shedd Aquarium which is a public indoor aquarium in the heart of chicago. The next stop was the home of The Chicago Cubs.

Wrigley Field was a fan favorite. “We got to do a lot of different things and my favorite part was touring Wrigley Field because I am a Cubs fan,” stated senior Skylar Burns.

To wrap up the first day of the trip the seniors went to Willis Tower where they had the chance to see the whole city from the top of the tower. The 110 story building reaches 4,151 feet making it the tallest building in the city.

Day two started off with some friendly competition at Top Golf. It is a very popular attraction in Chicago and one of the favorites of the seniors. Later that day they went to the Science and Industry Museum where they toured the German submarine U-505 that was used in World War I.

“I really liked the science museum. There was a lot of stuff to do and I learned a lot about the German U-boat,” said senior Joslin Briles.

The class also visited The Mirror Bean, The Main Event, and went shopping at Woodfield Mall. Time is ticking for the class of 2023 as graduation commencement is under a month away.

“On the senior trip I had a lot of fun with my classmates. It was nice for all of us to be together one last time before we graduate. Spending time with them one last time before we all graduate and go our separate ways was comforting and fun,” Burns stated.

The group arrived back in Monroe around 2:30 Thursday afternoon. Overall the trip to Chicago, Ill. was a success and the seniors had a great time.
