Another record in the hole for Maher

by Kinsey Phipps

On the afternoon of April 23, the girls’ varsity golf team headed to Oskaloosa for the Osky Invitational. It was the second 18-hole meet for the Mustangs.
There was another victorious golf day for sophomore Bre Maher, as she broke her second school record. She shot an 85 on that night, and the previous record was 86. Maher also recently broke the nine-hole record two weeks ago.
“It’s pretty awesome. I didn’t expect to break two records my sophomore year. I thought I wouldn’t start breaking them until at least my junior year, but probably my senior year.” Maher said.
The other golf team members had a very good night, as well. Freshman Ellie Steenhoek shot a 115. Junior Abby Van Haaften shot a 126, with freshman Sabrina Reed right behind her at 128.
“All of the girls played well today. We finally had a good day for playing golf, as the weather really cooperated with us. Each of the girls shot around 20 strokes less than our meet on Tuesday,” PCM Head Golf Coach Val Edwards said. “Congratulations to Breanna Maher today on another school record: 85 for 18 holes.”
The next meet for the girls happens to be at home tonight at 1 p.m.
