My senior year

My senior year

I am excited for the end of the year, but I am also scared for the next few years of life. Graduation and leaving the PCM community to start my own life without the people that I have always been around is a scary concept, but also very exciting. I will be setting my own path for my future in college and going forward with what I need and want in life.

It has been a very different environment at the PCM High School, seeing everyone in the senior class start preparing for college and living without the people that they speak to everyday while also trying to focus on school, other school activities outside of school hours, and even working. It has been hard focusing on my mental and physical health while trying to complete everything that I need to have completed before moving on my own to Wartburg.

I am trying to limit the amount of time that I am spending at work during the week since I have started the track and field season. Working on the weekends while also participating in track and field, going to school everyday and completing my DMACC homework has made it quite obvious that I will not get a break until summer comes around. Stressing about completing my homework on a night that I have a track meet has not happened yet this season, but I know for sure that I will since I had the same schedule last year.

I am very excited to start my senior track season. I have pushed myself to become better than I was last year, with already hitting my personal best from last year, I am ready to hit higher numbers. While practicing with my teammates, I try to focus, but sometimes distractions like my own thoughts, questions from teammates, and bad throws get in the way. I think way too much about beating my own record that I have not just thought about getting a good practice in. I need to be getting more reps in while also lifting after or before practice.

I have noticed that if I lift during the day of a meet I have performed better in competition. One good thing is that I scheduled fitness to be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and most of our meets happen on those days. All of my classes have taken a ton of time out of my schedule, but I will always make sure that I have everything that I need done for my classes and will take time to go to practice and compete to my best ability everyday.
