Des Moines Hoover took over the PCM girls’ varsity soccer team on April 10. PCM lost a tough game with a final score of 3-0 in the Huskies’ favor. Though the girls lost, PCM’s Head Coach Bill Sowder was far from disappointed.
“I am pleased with the first game. We did things this time we did not do last year. Even though we lost, we played way better, and this year we actually got a offensive attack against them,” Sowder said. “To improve, we must continue to work on our communication, positioning and rotating along with the offensive attack. If we continue this, we will have a good year.”
The girls on the team echoed their coach’s response as well.
“I think we did a lot better than last year,” sophomore Jaiden Rogers said. “We went out there and played hard, even though we knew it was a bigger school, and I know we did our best.”
Join the girls Saturday, April 18, as they face off against Newton at 9 a.m. on Newton’s field.
