On March 23, the PCM girls’ golf team took the course for their first practice. With three new golfers added to the two-person team, there is much hope for the girls as they stroke their way into the 2015 season.
Two letter winners are returning this year: Junior Abby Van Haaften and sophomore Breanna Maher. Senior Taylor Phifer is also a returning letter winner, though she took last season off. Two new freshman join the flock as well: Sabrina Reed and Ellie Steenhoek.
“As a team, I want to win at least one meet this year,” Maher said. “Individually, I want to place in the top ten at conference and make it to second round of regionals.”
The first meet for the girls was on April 7 in Oskaloosa against Eddyville and Oskaloosa. Results were not known at press time.
“Our goal this year is to have at least a couple of individuals make it to regionals and hopefully State,” Head Coach Val Edwards said. “The girls will have to work hard to attain these goals.”
The next meet for the girls is on Monday, April 13 at Pleasantville. PCM girls’ golf team has their home meet on Thursday, April 30.
