Emma’s explanations
As you may already know Tim Burton’s most recent project, “Wednesday” hit Netflix on Nov. 23, and if you didn’t know, well you must be living under a rock because personally the anticipation of the show was quite literally killing me with excitement.
In my professional opinion I have the most amazing taste in all things pop culture so in today’s column I give you my highly esteemed review on “Wednesday.” If you haven’t seen it yet stop right here, go watch it, then come back and read the rest of this column because there WILL be spoilers and trust me you don’t want any part of this story ruined for you. Let’s start with the cast, first of all when I saw Jenna Ortega was playing Wednesday Adams I went insane. I absolutely adore Jenna, she kills it in every single role she plays and she completely destroyed every expectation I had for the show’s take on Wednesday in the best way possible. She also gives me major Aubrey Plaza vibes with her humor and I love it. She has a sort of dark personality and humor which I always think is fun. The entire cast plays their characters so well but another casting decision that I want to mention is Mrs. Thornhill who is played by the one and only Christina Ricci. The reason I love this is because she played Wednesday in the 90’s “Adams Family” movie. I always love when actors who played in the original play in spin off projects.
I love everything Tim Burton, the man knows how to make a good film. Everything about this series is amazing to me, and the vibe of this is definitely my style. It’s dark but has a lot of humorous moments that lighten the mood, as well as wholesome relationships that develop between characters. I think the choice to make this spinoff will definitely pay off as it portrays the already known Wednesday in a new light, we get to see her and her story more in depth than we did previously. Throughout the entire series and as we already know Wednesday she is a very very dark and troubled girl, but towards the last few episodes we see that she is human and does have feelings although she may not show it. The way that the story progresses is really fun, the love triangle between Wednesday, Tyler, and Xavier, the friendship between Enid and Wednesday, and the interaction with Wednesday and the sheriff all make the story. Not to mention that the show always left me guessing, I was always making up theories and trying to figure out who the Hyde was and I will say I had a pretty good feeling on who it was and all I’ll say is I was right but I’ll save that spoiler from you. I’m already so anxious to see the next season after it was left on a cliffhanger, one thing I do hope for the next season is for it to be a little darker and more gorey because I know Jenna Ortega would absolutely slay every moment of that. Well, there’s my little review on “Wednesday,” if you haven’t seen it go watch it right now. I guarantee you’ll love it, there’s a little something in there for all ages.
