Key Club cumulates coins

by Logan Gilman

The PCM Key Club has been doing a coin drive this week that ends tomorrow, to help benefit the PCM Food Pantry. To encourage kids to donate their spare coins, Key Club is setting up a contest between the classes. The class that donates the most money will win a prize of a pizza party.
Key Club Adviser Mrs. Kristen Souza said, “People should be mindful of the fact that people love to give and give and give to the food pantry around the holidays, and they get all of this stuff, and then the rest of the year their supplies may be depleted. It’s important to remember to give all year round. So this money that we earn will be used to help the food pantry buy more food.”
The food pantry is located in the Presbyterian Church in Monroe. They are always accepting donations of food or money, as there are nearly 100 active families at this time. The food pantry is open on Monday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Monday evenings from 6-7 p.m. It is also open on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to noon. The director of the food pantry is Pastor Ann Johnson. If you have any questions about the food pantry or would like to donate or receive aid, the phone number for the church is 641-259-2657.
