On the night of Jan. 29, the senior wrestlers at PCM not only wrestled their last home meet but alsotheir last regular-season meet. The night was a big one for the Mustangs, as they took on the Greene County Rams and the Colfax-Mingo Tigerhawks. The results were mixed; PCM lost to the Rams, 42-30, but then they proceeded to win against the Tigerhawks, 54-22.
Senior Tristan Clark pinned his Greene County opponent in one minute flat, and senior Trent Malone pinned his opponent in 1:55. The night ended with two forfeits and three falls in PCM’s favor, but that wasn’t enough to measure up to the mighty Rams from Greene County.
However, the next meet against Colfax-Mingo went much better. Clark also shined during this meet, when he pinned his adversary in 58 seconds. Malone pinned his opponent in 1:54. There were six forfeits and three falls in the Mustangs’ favor, leading them to win with an impressive score of 54-22.
“With last Thursday being my last time in front of my home crowd, there were a lot of emotions from all us seniors. We knew it was going to be a tough dual against Greene County, and knowing that, we all trained harder that week,” Malone said. “As a whole, the seniors did their jobs on Senior Night, and they did what they were expected to do. For us to be able to impress our home crowd one last time was all we wanted, and I think we accomplished that.”
Join the Mustangs on Saturday, Jan. 7, at Sectionals in Centerville starting at 12 p.m.
