Mustangs wrestle their way to middle of stampede

by Kinsey Phipps

Some mixed results followed the Mustangs’ wrestling team as they made their way to Gilbert on Jan. 24 for the Heart of Iowa Conference Wrestling Tournament. There were 10 teams at the last tournament before Sectionals. PCM had some mixed results, as they had quite a few placings but finished fifth as a team in the end.
There were two victories, as senior Tristan Clark and senior Ron Marshall wrestled their way to the top of the podium. Clark weighed in at 126 pounds with Marshall weighing in at 170. Sophomore Xavier Miller, who traditionally weighs in at 120 pounds, missed the mark for this tournament and had to wrestle at 132. Though he had the setback, Miller still pulled out second place. Senior Skyler Koder and senior Trent Malone both got third place. Koder wrestled at 160 pounds, and Malone wrestled at 285. The 182 pounder, senior Jaret Maggard, pulled out fourth place, as well as the 106 pounder, sophomore Jakeb Fenton. Junior Mike Fagg placed fifth in the 195-pound category, and freshman Luke Kramer got sixth, wrestling 152.
The Mustangs finished off the day with 134.5 points scored coming in fifth place.
Come support the Mustang wrestlers tonight, Jan. 29, at Senior Night at PCM High School. The triangular against Colfax-Mingo and Green Co. will start at 6 p.m.
