Last Friday, the PCM Mustangs’ football team packed their bags and headed south to play at Graceland University in Lamoni. In a non-district game, they took on the Central Decatur Cardinals. Unfortunately the long drive ended in a 20-7 loss.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Cardinals struck quick in the second on a long pass to score to make it a 6-0 game. The Mustangs, though, answered back in the second half with an 11-yard touchdown pass when junior quarterback Logan Gilman connected with sophomore wide out Luke Greiner to make it a 7-6 football game.
The Cardinals then answered back with two touchdowns to make it 20-7, and the Mustangs just couldn’t come away with the win.
Senior Captain and outside linebacker Luke Pendroy said, “We thought we had the ‘W’ before we even started the game. Just like Pella Christian, we were looking forward to the big games this season, and they just slipped away from us. We need to stick together as a team and play on the level we know we can play. Our underclassmen really stepped up and played awesome. We just need to move the ball a little more, and we can’t get beat on coverage.”
