On Oct. 18, the PCM Marching Mustangs competed in their last two marching band competitions of
the year. This also meant the seniors’ last high school competitions of their lives. Their set list for songs included songs from Coldplay. These include “Clocks,” Lost” and “Viva La Vida.”
They started off their day in Pella at the state invitational, where they competed mid-morning and received a Division I rating with 72.7 points out of 100.
“The band had a fantastic performance at Pella,” co-director Ms. Teresa Thompson said. “All of their hard work has paid off this season. I’m really proud of all of them.”
After working hard to receive the Division I rating, the band took a little time to themselves to have fun and relax. They ate lunch together at Pizza Ranch in Pella. Afterwards, the went to Merle Hay Mall in Des Moines to spend time shopping.
Finally, they headed off to the last competition in Ankeny. They put in hard work, but little was received, with a point total of 49 out of 100. They took last place.
“I’m going to miss marching band season a lot,” senior color guard member Ashlyn Breckenridge said. “It was a great group to end the season with.”
