Deja Vu in Penalty Kicks for Boys’ Soccer Team

by Rory Van Gorp

On April 12, the boys’ soccer team traveled to Nevada High School seeking out a win, however after a long hard game and double overtime, they weren’t able to seal the deal losing in penalty kicks 4-2.

The game started off rough with Nevada scoring an early goal in the first half, but the Mustangs were able to respond late in the first half with a goal by junior Blake Reed.

The second half was more of the same with Nevada scoring two more goals and PCM tying up the game with a goal from senior Misha Seebeck off of a free kick and a goal from senior Drew Johnson off of a header.

The game then went into very tense overtimes where the Mustangs were able to hold off the Nevada Cubs and get a few good chances in, keeping the score at 3-3.

It was in penalty kicks where the Mustangs were just not able to keep up with the Cubs. They were outscored in penalty kicks 4-2, with the two Mustang goals scored by Seebeck and sophomore Collin Peterson.

With the Mustangs’ third time going into double overtime and second loss by penalty kicks, they hope to finally get a win Friday, April 20 against CMB at Maxwell. Varsity starts at 5:30 p.m. with a JV game following.
