Girls’ Golf Season Kicks off with First Place Finish at Home

by Nick Meinders

April 5 was the first time the PCM girls’ golf team had an opportunity to prove themselves as a team. The fact that it was a home meet at the Gateway Golf Course in Monroe made the opportunity even better. The nine-hole meet was originally scheduled to take place two days earlier but was rescheduled, because of weather conditions. Although the weather was still a little bit chilly on the rescheduled date, the Mustangs pushed through and delivered an outstanding performance. The performance they delivered earned the Mustangs a first place finish in team points with 200 total.

To help the Mustangs earn their first place finish, seniors Sabrina Reed and Madeline Mitchell scored low enough to medal at the meet. Reed golfed a 47 during the event to earn a first place finish and Mitchell placed second with a total of 48.

The next opportunity for the Mustangs to prove themselves in another meet will be at Bondurant-Farrar on Monday, April 16. The meet is scheduled to tee off at 2 p.m.
