After winning at Saydel earlier in the week the Mustangs traveled to Fairfield on Thursday, Jan. 19 hungry for another victory. Juniors Elijah Sperfslage and Jackson Thomas led the charge with 19 and 18 points respectively as the 2A Mustangs handled the Fairfield Trojans 62-45.

Also scoring for the Mustangs, who led at half 31-20, were Derek Brown with 10, Mark Bruxvoort with eight points, Andrew Van Ryswyk with five points and Reed Worth with two. Thomas and Dayton Boell led the Mustangs in rebounding with five apiece, and Sperfslage had five steals.

“I thought we played pretty well. We were very active on defense and we made a lot of shots early on,” Sperfslage said. “We need to come out every game ready to compete because if you don’t, it’s going to bite you. We just need to stay confident and keep playing as a team.”
