Citrus Bowl bound

Citrus+Bowl+bound

by Ashley Miller

Seatbelt on and wheels up. On Dec. 27, seven of the PCM cheerleaders and three of their coaches will be on their way to Orlando, Fla. They are traveling there to perform in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl “All American Halftime Show” on Dec. 31. Seniors Joe Kacmarynski, Emma Findlow, Amber Beener, Josie Branderhorst and Josalan Schut and sophomores Taegan Hamer and Elizabeth Bradbury are the seven cheerleaders making the journey along with coaches Tammy Wickett, Marcie Findlow and Megan Boushka.

They will be in Orlando from Dec. 27 to Jan. 1. On the days leading up to the show, the cheerleaders will practice their routines with professional choreographers, visit Walt Disney World for a day of “Fun in the Sun” and go to “Ride the Movies” at the Universal Orlando Resort. The PCM cheerleaders will perform alongside hundreds of other students from around the country.

“All of us are super excited to perform at the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl together,” Branderhorst said. “We are also excited to escape the cold Iowa weather for a little bit. I’m looking forward to making many memories that we will all remember for a long time!”

You can be one of the potential millions of viewers; the Citrus Bowl football game is between No. 13 Louisville and No. 20 LSU at 11:00 a.m. on ABC-TV.

“Cheerleading  was an amazing experience for me this past few years,” Kacmarynski said. “I’m glad I went out. It creates a positive essence in your life.”
