On Dec. 1, the PCM Dance Team participated in the State Dance competition at Wells Fargo Arena with 15 girls. In total, there were 597 teams from Iowa to compete against.

“[The competition] was nothing like I expected. It’s an amazing experience to get to dance with my team and to watch all the other dance teams. There was about 597 teams there, so your anxious to see and hear how you did,” sophomore Lauren Brodersen said.

The team’s pom routine placed second overall for the day, and both the hip hop and jazz got Division I ratings.

“You don’t always get the outcome you set out for, but it’s an amazing experience regardless,” senior Kelsie DeHaai said. “I always look at that one team that beats us, and I know that they deserved to win. I can only feel fortunate to have shared what I love with such a great group of girls.

The dance team has a little break to practice their routines until their next performance at the annual Spring Show on Feb. 11. At the high school, they will be preforming their State dances, coed and clinic routines.
