It’s something she started as soon as she could walk and she’s stuck with it ever since.
Something she just might do for the rest of her life. One of those things you just fall in love with from the moment you start. Riding horses. As a young lass, her father and some of her friends were in team roping. This peaked her interest and when they taught her everything, she started it too. A little later in fifth grade, Proffitt started to barrel race and she has continued to do so ever since.
“My dad’s friends that he roped with looked like they were having fun,” Proffitt said. “So I decided that I wanted to try it too, and it just stuck.”
In 2013 and 2014 she has qualified for the National High School Rodeo finals. Also, in 2014, she qualified for the American Royal Youth Invitational. She plans on sticking to it next year while she attends Iowa Central Community College.
