Senior Rachel Peter and freshman Blaise Winegardner ended the cross country season on a cold, but
successful day on Nov. 1 at the State meet in Fort Dodge. Both runners finished in the top 50 for class 2A.
Peter finished in 42nd place out of 117 girls with her third fastest time of 16:35, running a 4K. Her personal record being is 16:04.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better way to end my last season of cross country,” Peter said.
Winegardner finished with a time of 17:28, running a 5K, in 33rd place out of 130 boys.
Peter has been accepted as a 2014 Senior All-Star by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches. This gives her a chance to run one more time in her high school career. This Saturday, Nov. 8, Peter will participate in an open 4K on the Des Moines Area Community College Campus in Ankeny. The top 15 winners will receive awards. Come out and support Peter in her last race of her senior year.
