The PCM Marching Mustangs headed east to perform their show “Colors” at the Pella Marching Invitational on Saturday, September 24. The band placed second among the other competitors falling just short of Eddyville-Blakesburg. They also received the “best drumline” award in the 2A division.

“I thought the band played and marched extremely well under Saturday’s sweltering heat. I am proud of the efforts made by all band members thus far and look forward the rest of the season,” said Band Director Ben Varner.

When it comes to things the band needs to work on Varner has a clear vision of what the band is capable of.

“The band needs to do a better job of identifying impact moments and taking care of our marching fundamentals to improve our overall scores,” said Varner.

You can catch the Marching Mustangs doing their thing at halftime of the homecoming game this Friday, Sept 30, against Chariton, or the next day at the Urbandale band competition.
