On Sept. 9, the Mustangs varsity football team put out a stellar performance, beating the Albia Blue Demons 52-6. No matter if they were on offense or defense, they made it look easy. This huge win puts the Mustangs at 2-1 for the season so far.

Right off the start, you could tell PCM had their heads in the game, causing the Blue Demons to turn the ball over within the first four plays of the game. The Mustangs’ offense was on point. From passing to running the ball, they did it with precision. Senior Sheldon Speers and senior Luke Greiner, as well as sophomore Wes Cummings, were electric out on the field leaving the crowd in shock. Speers went seven for eight in passes, throwing the ball for an incredible 192 yards. The majority of the passes went to Greiner. Jumping up into the air or diving for the ball, he still caught them. He ended up scoring two touchdowns for the Mustangs.

“I think we executed well on both sides of the ball. We kind of got off to a slow start, but once we got things rolling, we kept our foot on the gas and just kept rolling with it,” Greiner said.

Cummings ended up with four touchdowns. One was an unbelievable 90 yard run to the endzone.

PCM’s offense was eye opening, but their defense was jaw dropping. They managed to stop Albia in their tracks with ease. The Mustangs had a total of four sacks in the game against the Blue Demons. Senior Clayton Welch managed to take down three of them. That wasn’t it. PCM unloaded hits on the Blue Demons, keeping them from getting a first down around 80% of the time.

The Mustangs executed well against the Blue Demons. You could say they played with perfection. You can catch them doing the same thing this Friday, Sept. 16 at Centerville. The game will start at 7:30 p.m.
