Golfers take bronze at conference meet

by Logan Gilman

TCI Golf Course in Polk City was the location for the Heart of Iowa Conference boys’ golf meet on May 3. The Mustangs took home third out of the nine-team field, shooting a 343.
Senior Reid Jenkins led the charge for PCM, as he took home 11th place individually while carding an 83. Freshman Andrew Van Ryswyk stepped up big and shot an 85, while sophomore Jackson Thomas finished the day with an 87. Junior Ryan Hill came in with the final counting card, which was an 88. Other scores for the Mustangs were sophomore Noah Lanphier who finished his round with a 90 and junior Braden Phifer, who shot a 101.
Hill said, “Some young guns stepped up and played well, and some veterans, like myself, struggled, and we need to improve our scores. We lost to first and second place by a lot, but overall, I’m happy with the finish.”
Gilbert took home gold, shooting a 304 as a team, and Nevada finished in second with a 312. CMB finished last with a 438.
