Soccer boys’ rematch finds same result

by Ryan Kohlhof

Last Tuesday, May 3, found PCM’s very own Mustang boys’ soccer team rematching Chariton, with Chariton having home field advantage. Last time they played Chariton, it was at home and ended in a 3-1 loss. This time, Chariton took the win again, but with a 4-1 lead. The Mustangs’ lone goal was scored by junior Graham Davis.
This season has been a good stepping stone for the Mustangs as Quickstats has their record on the season at 3-5, the best it has been in years.
“This team has really put time in during the offseason, practicing hard and playing as a team,” Head Coach Darrin Telfer said.“But we can always get better. We can improve on our first touches, our passing and our finishing, and that will make us an even better team.”
The Mustang boys’ next game will be tonight, May 12, at home. JV will start the night off against Newton at 5:30 p.m., with varsity following around 7 p.m. They also play Saturday, May 14, at Gilbert. JV will start it off at 10 a.m., and varsity will once again follow around 11:30 a.m.
