On Tuesday, April 19, the Mustangs girls’ golf team attended a tournament almost an hour away at Lincoln Valley Golf Course at West Marshall High School. The course itself was a challenge for the team, and the competition was up to par.
This didn’t stop junior Breanna Maher from playing her game. Maher led the team with an 18-hole score of 87, giving her third place in the tournament.
Trailing not far behind Maher was junior Courtney Bridges with a 106, sophomore Madeline Mitchell with a 101 and sophomore Ellie Steenhoek with a 109, though their scores weren’t enough to place in the top four. Senior Abby Van Haaften topped her personal record in this tournament with a score of 114, keeping ahead of sophomore Sabrina Reed with a 117.
“We had much better weather and shot one stroke better than Monday’s meet at 403, for a third-place finish out of 11 teams,” said a proud Head Coach Val Edwards.
