On the last night in September the PCM volleyball squad headed to Baxter for a Heart of Iowa Athletic Conference matchup against the CMB Raiders. The Mustangs were victorious in this cross-county rivalry, winning three sets to none. This was the girls’ first conference win of the season. Sophomore Katie Vande Wall said, “It felt good to finally not only win, but dominate.”
The girls came out on fire and won the first two sets, both by the score of 25-15. Looking to close out the game, they won the third and final set with a score of 25-18.
Senior Courtney Van Houweling led the team in kills and digs with nine and 20, respectively. Senior Emma Williams and sophomore Jayci Vos both led the team in assists with 16. Junior Karina Van Dyke led the team in the block category, finishing the game with four.
Vande Wall said about finishing the season strong, “We can’t get up and then let them back in the game. So when we get ahead, we need to finish, and we can’t let the other team go on long runs.”
