The PCM Mustang girls’ volleyball team was in a Heart Of Iowa Conference matchup against Greene
County at home on Sept. 23. It was a hard-fought match that came down to the wire. In the end, though, Greene County won in five sets.
PCM let the first set barely slip away 27-29. The Mustangs came back strong and won the second set 25-17. The momentum didn’t last when Greene County won the third set 24-26. With their backs against the wall, they won the fourth set 29-27. It was anybody’s game going into the final set, Green County came out strong and didn’t look back, winning 10-15.
When asked how they could win close games like this in the future, sophomore Jayci Vos said, “We need to work on the little things, like eliminating errors and building on each other’s intensity to keep things going.”
Senior Courtney Van Houweling led the team with 13 kills while junior Ashley Van Gorp finished with 11. Vos led in the assist category with 18. Senior Mackenzie Clarke led the team with 25 digs. Senior Emma Williams was the most efficient server on the night, going 18-20 with four aces.
