Thursday to Monday, Nov. 5-9, are the days an art heist took place at the high school. A portrait created by junior Mackenzie Messick had disappeared, the art even though found, the thief is still free.
Art Teacher Ms. Sara Kirk said, “It was a sad morning [that] week when I walked into my classroom to find one of my favorite paintings gone. It disappeared right from under my nose — I didn’t even see it coming.”
Kirk had a plan to track down the culprit, and student detective junior Bella Georg searched high and low.
George said, “My message: I will find you. My mission: To bring that painting home safely. I’m not sure when I will find you, but I am determined.” And she has now succeeded in bringing the painting home, but the thief is still out there.
Kirk said, “The painting mysteriously reappeared after word of the story spread. I found it in an unused drawer in my classroom. A big shoutout to everyone who helped with this investigation. The art department is relieved and excited to have the painting home where it belongs.”
