Mustangs vs. Mustangs: PCM prevails

Mustangs+vs.+Mustangs%3A+PCM+prevails

by Logan Gilman

On the first good-weather Friday night of the year, the hometown PCM Mustangs took on the visiting
Davis County Mustangs in a district matchup. PCM, coming off a big victory over Centerville, was looking to keep the ball rolling in district play, and they had no problem with that on Sept. 20, with a final score of 50-6. The PCM Mustangs started off strong, scoring on a short yardage touchdown run from senior Ronnie Marshall. That trend would continue with Marshall rushing for three touchdowns in the first quarter. After an exchange of punts in the second quarter, PCM struck quickly with a touchdown pass from junior Logan Gilman to sophomore Luke Greiner.
Then it was the defense’s turn to shine. Senior Luke Pendroy scored on a 10-yard interception return to stretch the lead to 36-6. After that, PCM scored on another touchdown pass from Gilman to Greiner, making the lead 43-6 going into halftime.
After the break, the hometown Mustangs came out and maintained the lead and cruised to the finish.
Pendroy said, “Our offense got things figured out and moved the ball really well. Our defense let up one big play but they played lights out for the most part.” The Mustangs are now 2-2, and 2-0 in district play.
PCM will be in action this Friday,Sept. 26 in Baxter against CMB.
