It’s no secret that Caitlin Clark has left a legacy on college basketball. A legacy that will live on forever, from the logo threes to the buzzer beaters, to staying after games signing autographs and taking pictures. Some loved her, some hated her, but everybody watched. In her final game as a Hawkeye, they played in the National Championship vs. South Carolina, that game drew more viewers than the Men’s National Championship that was played the following night. They beat it by over four million viewers. Here are some of the best moments of her career.
49 point career high vs. Michigan, 2024. Clark set the Carver-Hawkeye Arena scoring record on this night, a record that was tied by her teammate Hannah Stuelke a week earlier. Clark also broke the NCAA Woman’s Scoring Record that night on a deep three just 2:45 into the game. Iowa would go on to win 106-89.
41 point performance vs. LSU in the Elite Eight, 2024. The matchup of Clark vs Angel Reese was a highly anticipated one. After LSU ran away in the 2023 National Championship, the rematch was inevitable. Caitlin got the best of the Tigers in the rematch, dropping nine threes and leading the Hawks to a 94-87 victory.
Triple double vs Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship, 2023. Iowa was on a roll throughout the Big Ten Tournament and seemed to be on a mission. They faced the 14th ranked Buckeyes for the second time that season. Iowa came out dominating and rolled to a 105-72 victory where Caitlin Clark had 30 points, 10 rebounds, and a whopping 17 assists, en route to their second Big Ten Title in what would eventually be a three-peat.
Eight for eleven from three vs. Michigan in the regular season finale, 2022. Michigan was ranked eighth in the nation at the time and in a highly anticipated matchup on Senior Day, Clark and Iowa stole the show. Scoring 38 points to go along with 11 assists and a crazy 8-11 from three. Iowa would roll to a 104-80 win.
The first triple double, 2020. The first time Caitlin Clark recorded a triple double was vs. Western Illinois on a cold night in Carver-Hawkeye Arena, an empty Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Clark didn’t play very well by her standards, going 3-13 from the field and 1-6 from three. But 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists were good for her first of seventeen career triple doubles.
Buzzer beater vs. second-ranked Indiana, 2023. With College Gameday in town and the whole country watching, Clark and Iowa pulled off one for the ages on Senior Day. With Indiana taking the lead with 1.5 left on free throws, Iowa had one shot on an inbound play. Caitlin wrapped around a screen from Monika Czinano, caught the pass and took the shot from the wing. When it went through the net, all of Carver-Hawkeye Arena exploded and the whole team was running around the court. It was one that fans will never forget, just as no one will ever forget Caitlin Clark.
