With all of the trades, free agent signing, teams losing players from not having cap space, to star players of many teams retiring from the game, this offseason has been one for the books. Starting the offseason wave of interesting moves was Jason Kelce retiring from the game of football. Kelce played 13 seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles at center. Making the Pro-Bowl seven times, All-Pro six times, and a Super Bowl 52 Championship, number 62 will go down as one of the best centers to ever play the game. On top of Kelce, also retiring from the game is Eagles defensive lineman, Fletcher Cox. Cox’s major career accomplishments include making the Pro-Bowl six times, All-Pro four times, and a Super Bowl LII victory. The Eagles are really taking a big hit this offseason but to put a bandage on the wound, they have signed stud running back from the New York Giants, Saquon Barkley. Barkley, selected 2nd overall in the 2018 NFL draft by the New York Giants, won offensive rookie of the year, and he now has made the Pro-Bowl two different times in 2018 and 2022. And Barkley isn’t even the most publicized running back trade. Former offensive player of the year, leading rusher in yards and touchdowns in 2020 and only eighth player in history to rush for two thousand yards in a single season, Derrick Henry, has been traded from the Tennessee Titans where he has been since he was drafted in 2016, to the offensive powerhouse, Baltimore Ravens. With the addition of Henry on top of star wide receivers, Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, tight end Mark Andrews and MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, this offense is going to be one to watch going into the season this coming late summer. Also another big offensive story is the Chicago Bears, with the trade of Keenan Allen from the Chargers and the trade of Justin Fields to the Steelers. Chicago has plans to draft top QB prospect, Caleb Williams, to be the match that lights the fire for Chicago’s offense as they were towards the bottom last year in offensive statistics. On the topic of QBs, Russell Wilson was traded from Broncos to the Steelers to play alongside Justin Fields. The offseason battle for QB1 is going to be a hot topic in Pittsburgh. More moves were also made in QB rooms out east as the Atlanta Falcons trade for Minnesota Vikings 5 year starter, Kirk Cousins. Cousins being a three time Pro-Bowler while in Minnesota, could be the addition the Falcons offense has been looking for. Fans really anticipate all the movement during the offseason to see what the next year is going to bring us. And from everything that’s already happened so far, we’re in for an interesting season.
