With October coming to an end just a couple of days ago the holiday season is just around the corner. According to most of the supermarkets, convenient stores, and social media ads, this holiday season had already started way back in September. In my opinion, the holidays start in the middle of November because that’s the perfect time. Schools are slowly starting to wind down, you have a slight break after Halloween, and the weather’s starting to cool down, so starting to transition into the Christmas season around the second week of November is the perfect time. Starting the winter season in September makes no sense to me. Why start a winter season in Summer? Personally, I don’t understand how people can watch Christmas movies, smell the scent of cookies and peppermint, and be in the overall “winter mood” when it’s still 90 degrees outside. I went around and asked a few high school students and staff the question “When does Christmas start?” The majority responded with November 1 or After Thanksgiving. Very few respond with before/during October or December 1. According to the calendar, October is Halloween’s month, November is Thanksgiving, and December is Christmas’ month. Starting the Holiday season in December though seems too late to be able to get into the Holiday season. You want Christmas morning to be exciting, planned, and run as smoothly as possible. Getting your Holiday plans set in stone in 24 days is going to be very difficult. Your plans will be rushed, not fully thought out, and hectic. On top of messy plans, not having enough time to get everything fully thought through will stress you out. If you start the Holiday season in the second week of November you will have roughly a month and a half to start your plans for Christmas day. Having that long will give you plenty of time to think out what you’re doing and make sure the day can go as smoothly as possible. If you just want a better and easy holiday season make sure you start November 12, 2023!
