How the Eras Tour is breaking the internet

March 27, 2023

Taylor Swift embarked on her 52-show Eras Tour on March 17, 2023. The setlist included 44 songs from eras past and present in Swift’s career. Her first show had over 69,000 in attendance, breaking Madonna’s record for most attended female concert ever. As one can imagine, the online response to the show has been nothing short of insane.

There is a long history of people getting engaged at Taylor Swift concerts, notably during her 2008 track “Love Story,” but no one had ever gotten married at one of her concerts–until now. TikTok user @rene_hurtado posted a video of her and her now-husband exchanging vows at the tour that has garnered over 4.5 million views on the platform. The idea of getting married at a concert is crazy to begin with, but it seems like Rene and her husband did not care in the slightest. To make matters even more exciting, Swift herself actually liked the TikTok. Now the couple can tell their friends that they not only had over 69,000 people at their wedding, but that Swift herself was at the ceremony. Watch Good Morning America talk about the event below.

Another special thing that fans have been doing at the concerts is making friendship bracelets and passing them out to their fellow Swifties. TikTok user @cocoandpudge was handing her bracelets out when she spotted Taylor’s parents, Scott and Andrea Swift. The caption on the video says, “made a friendship bracelet for mama swift never dreaming i could actually give it to her [heart hands emoji].” Swift’s mom held up a heart with her hands after putting the bracelet on. It’s safe to say that there was a lot of love in the stadium that night.

Taylor also called out fans during her performance of songs from her 2020 album “evermore.” On TikTok, many fans have been claiming that Taylor hates the album or they make jokes using an AI Taylor voice saying that all she remembers is her “hit single Willow” and has no idea what they are talking about. During the second night of her tour in the then Swift City (yes, Glendale renamed their city Swift city to celebrate Swift starting her tour), Swift dispelled the rumors in a humorous fashion in the video below.

Now, I am elated to tell you all that I actually scored Eras Tour tickets during the fan presale in November. I was the only one out of all of my friends that got a code for the presale, and I spent over seven hours on Safari that day on my phone. I didn’t do anything in any of my classes and actually didn’t even get the tickets by the time I got home. It took until about 4 p.m. when I was getting my haircut when I finally got the tickets in my possession. They aren’t the best seats, but the thought of actually being in the same room and breathing the same air as my idol is enough for me. I got the tickets for myself and Kiera Nelson, as well as for Evelyn Burkett for her sister Cara’s birthday present. Watch the video below to see Evie’s insane reaction to me getting the tickets.

I cannot wait until it’s June 24 and I am up in Minneapolis at the U.S. Bank Stadium. I am probably going to die when Taylor comes out on stage. Unfortunately, I won’t be in high school anymore to let you guys know how the concert goes for me. Don’t worry too much about it, though, because I already know it is going to be the best night of my life
