My top ten classic cars
Just about any car from a movie is very hard to find, including ones from popular racing or driving movies such as Fast and the Furious and Gone in 60 Seconds. Here are the top 10 rarest movie and TV show cars ranked highest to lowest, in my opinion.
For our number one spot, we have the DeLorean from the Back to the Future franchise. The car was discontinued after 2 years because of some technicalities with the creator/owner of the business. But even after almost two decades, everyone remembers when the DeLorean rolled out the back of Doc’s van and we’ve wanted it ever since.
Next up, The General Lee this car was used in a very famous show in the 70s and late ’80s known as The Dukes of Hazzard. The car was a Sunkist orange 1969 Dodge Charger that had a Confederate Flag painted on the roof and the racing number “01” on the doors. After the show grew in popularity many people wanted this car for their collection but when the Dukes of Hazzard’s crew used up just about 500 of the Chargers the show was eventually canceled. Years later they made a Dukes of Hazzard movie which sparked interest in this car again. At this time it is nearly impossible to find this car.
Coming in at number three, The 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. This car was used in a popular movie back in the late 70s and early ’80s called Smokey and the Bandit. It was a black car with a golden screaming bird painted on the hood. The popularity spiked on these cars thanks to Burt Reynolds, The Bandit.
Making the list at number four is the 1967 Impala four-door. Before the early 2000s you could probably get an Impala four-door for a really good price in many states but after the show Supernatural aired and became a hit many people wanted to find the same type of Impala Dean used while hunting the supernatural. After 15 years of this hit show the car became incredibly rare, near impossible to find in fixable condition.
Coming in at the middle of my list is the 1992 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Jurassic Park became one of the highest-grossing films in existence because of its revolutionary CGI and puppet skills for the time. In my opinion, the vehicles that were used in this movie were one of the most important plot points in the entire film. Many people have purchased these vehicles to replicate the Jurassic Park Jeep, you can actually spot them in Des Moines on a nice day!
Our next icon is the 1967 Shelby GT500, also known as Eleanor. If you remember that name that means you have watched the movie Gone in 60 Seconds. It was one of the most well-known cars from the movie and also a perfect car in general. Thanks to the film there are many people wanting the car, and because of this it is very hard to find Memphis’s “unicorn”.
The seventh-place spot goes to the 1970 Dodge Charger. This car was seen in Fast and the Furious driven by Dominic Toretto played by Vin Diesel. This is one of the most popular cars from the entire movie franchise and is pretty much the mascot of the entire franchise in general.
Number eight on our list is another Pontiac Firebird but this time it was made in 1982 and it starred in the famous movie/tv show Night Rider. It wasn’t just any normal car though it was controlled by an AI called K.I.T.T. This car has been a staple of pop culture ever since.
For our number nine spot, we are revisiting another classic with the 1983 GMC Ventura from The A-Team. This van became a staple for many collectors, and anyone looking to save the day.
Coming in at our number ten spot is a vehicle from a movie I’m hoping everyone has watched, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The Ferrari 250 GT California. Ferris and Cameron made this car popular among car fanatics when they drove it all over the city while skipping school one day. Unfortunately, the car ended up in a ravine. Such a sad ending for a great car.
All cars on this list have been a staple of pop culture for many years and have starred in many movies and TV and had many spoofs about them. But if you have one of these cars you might have a good amount of money at your fingertips without even knowing.
