Golden Globes 2023: fashion review

January 22, 2023

The Golden Globes are back and better than ever, as you may or may not know last year the award show was not televised. From my understanding this was due to COVID-19 and some racial concerns that arose after controversy with diversity and inclusivity. As we all know I’m a SUCKER for anything fashion so of course I had to do a review on some of my favorite fashion moments of the Golden Globes as well as highlight a few very very tragic fashion choices.

Jenna Ortega in Gucci and Tiffany & Co. Jewelry

Starting off the review with a bang we have my absolute favorite look of the night, Jenna Ortega. I love everything about this. It’s different yet still super elegant and fitting for an award show, I think the style of it is very her and the jewelry they chose pulled everything together really nicely. I love that her hair is simple and the dress is a little bit of a statement with the fun cut and criss crossing at the waist. Easily the best look on the carpet. She looked STUNNING as always. Love her, love Gucci, just love it.

Michelle Williams in Gucci and Tiffany & Co. jewelry

Yet another slay from Gucci. I’m telling you Gucci knows how to do red carpet, it hits every time. This is another look that I absolutely adored. Michelle Williams is literally a goddess of a woman and this dress is gorgeous. The ruffles and cut out at the front of the dress are really doing it for me, she looks like a dream. I can’t get over it. The shoes tie in so well to the dress, I mean they literally match perfectly. If Gucci put me in this dress I’d never take it off. Bury me in it please.

Austin Butler in Gucci

I think I died when I saw this man on the carpet. While I do love a good statement outfit and something extravagant, I love a nice simple, classic look just as much. He looks perfect, I could stare at this picture for years. I did hear some complaints from fans saying “He played Elvis in a movie and this was the best he could do?”While I do understand that some people may have been expecting an Elvis inspired outfit and I think that would be absolutely show stopping, I love the classy black and white suit and tie. What’s not to love about this man, he’s beautiful and insanely talented. Simple but extremely effective. There’s nothing he can’t do.

Margot Robbie in Chanel

I thought we left the weird chevron patterns back in 2014. Something about this dress is just really not doing it for me. I’m going to keep this review short and sweet. I love Margot Robbie just as much as the next gal but this is just not it. It’s giving JCPenny Prom dress (sorry Chanel) vibes and I can’t get down with it. Love Margot though she still looks amazing XO.

Heidi Klum in Kevin Germanier

I’m sorry but what is this? Why is this on the carpet? Nothing against her but the outfit…it looks like she walked out of party city and decided to make an appearance at the Golden Globes. To whoever decided that this would be the look of the night please never ever do this again.

Billy Porter in Christian Siriano

Now this is what you wear to an award show. It’s amazing. Stunning. Fresh. Elegant. Fun. I love every single thing about this look. He came to the carpet, ate, and left zero crumbs. Christian Siriano I love you, this is a work of art and you knew exactly what you were doing. This is what I want to see. Show stopping.
