What I am thankful for
Some people like to jump to conclusions after Halloween and go straight to the Christmas season. Personally, I’m here to get you into the Thanksgiving spirit as most need here in early November. Thanksgiving is all about spending time with family and friends and being thankful for everything that you have. I’ve been very lucky to have lots of things to be thankful for.
For a couple broader things I’m thankful for, friends and family. On Thanksgiving break we have big Thanksgiving meals and we can all spend time together. Being thankful for friends and family seems like a very basic thing to say, but it’s important to always be thankful for the little things because they’re a big part of your life.
One specific thing I’m thankful for would be the privilege to have season tickets to Iowa football games. My parents have been blessed with the opportunity to get us the tickets to go to every home game and have lots of fun. I’ve been able to see some amazing games and make some of the best memories of my life going to those games and for that I am thankful.
For another thing I’m thankful for, sports. The opportunity to play high school sports has been an amazing experience and has taught me a lot of things. I’ve endured two football seasons, one track season, and one baseball season. All of the coaches have been great and taught me many lessons about sports and just life lessons in general. It’s most definitely something worth being thankful for.
I feel like something that a lot of people overlook when it comes to being thankful is school. Being able to go to school everyday is something that some kids don’t get to experience. Having the opportunity to get an education and see my friends everyday is an important part of my life. I’ve gone to PCM for my entire life so I’ve been able to go to school with mostly the same people since preschool. Going to school everyday has been a privilege that I am very thankful for.
Family, friends, Iowa games, sports, and school are just some of the many things I’ve been blessed with in my life. I try to be thankful for things everyday and especially around this time of year to get me into the Thanksgiving spirit. So although some people like to jump straight to the Christmas season, don’t forget to be thankful for everything you have and enjoy Thanksgiving.
