Fall sports bring good and bad for PCM students
With the school year starting, fall activities started with full force. Many activities that started were band, football, volleyball, cross country, robotics, cheerleading, dance, esports, Fall Play, FFA, FCA, Drama Club, etc. These activities have different schedules causing students to feel stressed out or even get behind in school.
Senior Joslin Briles stated that she participates in softball and volleyball. Briles is being affected by these activities in a negative way while being in a sport. Briles’s schedule consists of going to school, then to practice and back home. A few stressful things about her fall season would be having
no free time and having a ton of homework. Things that Briles does to relax would be listening to music and going on drives.
Senior Ashlyn Alleger stated that she participates in band, speech, Fall Play and Jazz Band. Alleger is affected by these activities by being tired all the time, trying to fit all of her school work into her schedule and surrounding herself with people that help her. Alleger’s schedule consists of waking up for morning band, going to school, work, play practice and going home. A few stressful things about her fall season would be that the band is not going the way that they were anticipating and she is rushing to do her homework on time. Things that Alleger does to relax would be sleeping, reading and watching Netflix.
Riley DeVore, a senior, stated that she participates in cross country and track and field. One thing that DeVore is realizing is that she is growing up. DeVore’s schedule consists of school, cross country practice or meet, then home for homework. A stressful thing about her fall season would be managing time. Things that DeVore does to relax would be taking naps and watching her favorite shows.
Not just fall activities affect students, the environment they are in and resources that are available to them play a big role. Having support from your peers and family members helps a student be successful. Many stressful situations can be solved by doing things like listening to music, taking a nap or going to sleep early, watching Netflix or other entertainment and reading books.
