If you live in Prairie City or in surrounding areas, it is no secret that some remodeling and extensions at Goldie’s Ice Cream Shoppe are taking place. Goldie’s Ice Cream Shoppe, commonly referred to as Goldie’s is a local favorite throughout the PCM School District. With their many selections of different ice creams, including the flavor of the week, and their award winning tenderloins Goldie’s is the place to be in Prairie City.

Over the summer the ice cream shop started renovations inside, but recently more and more work has been done to the outside of the building leaving locals wondering what the plans are for the once small shop.

Posts made by the official Goldie’s team state, “When everything is completed we’ll have a 4 season patio to the west with glass garage doors for open-air dining in the summer, but heated in the winter.”

This post also shares about how there will now be more storage and extra space for the kitchen along with an employee locker room, a new office, and a handicapped-accessible restroom. The extra storage will truly make employee’s jobs easier because they will no longer have to cross the street to the current storage room to bring over supplies. Along with these renovations Goldie’s will also be upgrading the heating and cooling systems to keep the building an adequate temperature all year round!

The space is being renovated by Firm Foundations, Olson Construction of Iowa LLC, Commercial Service Innovation Inc and Dickerson Mechanical.

Goldie’s strives to have all the renovations done sometime in May and can’t wait to share it with the community.
