Girls’ Track and Field Meet Review
On March 30 the girls’ and boys’ track teams had their first meet. The boys’ track meet was at East Marshall and the girls’ team had a home meet. The girls’ team placed second at their first meet of the season and the boys’ team placed second at theirs also.
For the open 100 meter dash, freshman Ryan Bennett ran a 15.34 and placed seventh. In the open 200 meter dash, senior Celeste Wagaman placed 12th running it in 33.8 seconds and junior Belle Hudnut placed eighth running it in 32.69 seconds. Freshman Olivia Kinnoman placed tenth running the open 400 meter dash in one minute and twenty-one seconds. In the 800 sprint medley, the varsity group placed second running it in two minutes and seven seconds.
In the 1500 meter run, sophomore Paige Steenhoek placed second and ran it in five minutes and forty-seven seconds; freshman Tiffani Koonce placed fourth and ran it in five minutes and fifty-eight seconds. In the 3000 meter run, sophomore Jillian Fairbanks placed sixth running it in fourteen minutes and fifty-three seconds. Fairbanks also placed 13th in the 800 meter run with a time of three minutes and fourteen seconds. Also in the 800 meter run Fairbanks placed 13th running it in three minutes and fourteen seconds.
In the 100 meter hurdles, senior Margo Chipps placed first running it in 17.32 and junior Chelsea Bird placed third running it in 18.70 seconds. In the four by 100 meter shuttle hurdle relay, Hudnut, freshman Avery Houser, freshman Eliana Buswell and Junior Kate McClellan placed third running it in one minute and twenty-two seconds. In the 400 meter hurdles, Chipps placed first running it in one minute and thirteen seconds and Freshman Elle Davis placed eighth running it in one minute and thirty-six seconds.
In the 4×200 meter relay, the varsity group placed second running it in two minutes and five seconds. In the 4×400 meter relay, the varsity group placed third running it in four minutes and forty-six seconds. In the 4×800 meter relay, the varsity group got first running it in eleven minutes and twenty-seven seconds. In the distance medley, the varsity group placed third running it in five minutes and twenty-four seconds.
The varsity throwers for the girls team are junior Vi Humpal throwing the shot-put at 27.06 feet placing her sixth and the discus at 79.10 feet placing seventh, sophomore Rylee Gallaher placed 11th in shot-put throwing 26.03 feet and placed tenth in discus throwing 73.10 feet, sophomore Jaden Fairbanks placed 12th throwing the shot-put 26.02 feet and sophomore Eleigh Davis placed eighth throwing the discus 79.04 feet. For varsity high jump, Wagaman got first place jumping five feet. For varsity long jump Bird jumped 15 feet.
Good luck to both the girls’ and boys’ next week at the co-ed track meet at home on April 6. All field events will start at 4:30 pm and running will start at 5:00 pm.
