“We won,” said junior Colton Warrick.
And so the Mustangs varsity football team did. Last Friday the Mustangs faced the Central Lee, Donnellson Hawks. PCM played with heart, beating the Hawks 42-0. PCM’s varsity football team now has a record of 4-1.
The Mustangs’ offense was stellar. They ran the ball, but most of the time they passed it down the field. Senior Sheldon Speers had 335 passing yards with five touchdowns. His longest passing touchdown was 73 yards to sophomore Wes Cummings. Senior Luke Greiner had nine receptions with 195 yards. At the end of the night Greiner had four touchdowns. Junior Noah Anderson had the only rushing touchdown of the night.
PCM couldn’t have done it without their defense. The Mustangs’ defense didn’t allow the hawks to fly past them. Central Lee had a total of only 143 yards throughout the whole game. Speers had an interception and ran for 20 yards until he was tackled.
The Mustangs are doing pretty well this season. This is the team to watch if you want to see amazing plays as well as teamwork.
Their next game is at home against the Chariton Chargers. This will be PCM’s homecoming game. Come and support your fellow Mustangs on Sept. 30 at 7:30 pm.
