Disappointment exhausts boys’ soccer

On April 4, the PCM boys’ soccer team headed to Newton to their annual tournament, with hopes for
a win after a disappointing loss against Pella Christian on April 2. The day resulted in losses against both teams they faced.
“We need to work on basics like possession, passing and communicating with each other. We had a tough first 3 games, but we will move on and continue to improve,” coach Darrin Telfer said. “Our attitude and work habits have given me no reason to think any thing other than that.”
The boys played their first match that morning at 11:30 a.m. against Des Moines Roosevelt, resulting in a 12-0 loss. After the loss, they played the loser of Newton versus Benton. Benton lost that match 3-2, putting them against PCM. At 2 p.m., the game started, with PCM losing again, 14-1. Lynnville-Sully freshman Tony Merrill scored the only point that game.
The boys will play tonight, April 9, at home against Chariton. JV boys will start at 5:30 p.m., and varsity will start at 7 p.m.
