In the final conference game before tournaments begin, the Mustang boys’ basketball team lost a close game to a tough Greene County team 70-65. Three Mustangs scored in double figures, junior Jackson Thomas with 22, sophomore Andrew Van Ryswyk with 18 and sophomore Reed Worth with 12. Van Ryswyk also pulled down 12 rebounds.
The first quarter ended with the Mustangs on top 21-18. Greene County led at half 35-31.
In the third quarter Greene County led 54-47.
The Mustangs ended the regular season with a 9-7 conference record, good for fifth place. They were 10-11 overall. The Rams placed second in the Heart of Iowa Conference.
Senior Mark Bruxvoort said, “This season has had its ups and downs. I’m really proud of how the team has fought all year for close games. We played really hard and wanted the win.”
